Strength in Unity

We’re seeing it more and more now, thousands of people marching through the streets of major cities across the globe, protesting at the actions their governments are taking – governments that allegedly represent the very people that are protesting.

Some of you may be wondering what on earth I am talking about, you’ve seen no marches on TV, there is nothing on the news or in the newspapers about this – well, what I am referring to is something the mainstream media do not want to talk about, they do not want everyday folks to know that there are hundreds of thousands if not millions of people around the world who feel like they do and are making a stand against perceived injustices. Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing advantageous for the media in their silence, the only area the media and journalists have been guilty of is admitting that they do not represent independent news, they now serve and represent governments.

So why are people so unhappy? At my last foray into the BBC news, the implementation of vaccines (and now boosters) and restrictions on free movement are saving not just the UK but the whole world from the horrors of the pandemic. People should be happy, shouldn’t they? Aren’t our governments doing everything they can to protect the vulnerable in our countries? Maybe and maybe not. We know lockdowns haven’t worked, they didn’t work the first or the second or even the third time that they were implemented and our governments still reserve the right to try them again (presumably for them to not work again). The vaccines have now been shown to offer no level of immunity against Covid-19, they offer temporary protection, which is why we are offering boosters in less than a year after the first two inoculations. This performance has been so poor that the definition of vaccine had to be changed to remove the word immunity otherwise the current vaccines would not qualify to be called vaccines. Does our government messaging reflect these facts? Not so much.

A few days ago, the UK celebrated Remembrance Day, in the USA it was Veterans day and in many countries impacted by global wars, they too celebrate the day recognized as the end of the war that empowered their people to independence in some way, shape or form. The act of remembrance is to honour the sacrifices made by those who felt that living and survival are not enough, that only a life lived in freedom is a life worth fighting for. Millions of people around the world have made such sacrifices to ensure their children and their grandchildren and even the children and grandchildren of people they have never met, live their lives free from authoritarianism.

Those wars were mostly fought against a clear enemy from outside their country, an enemy with a flag or banner or ideology that could be seen openly and represented a clear threat. Those wars are thankfully rare in the modern world, we still see them in countries where resources are attractive to those nations who would take them by force. The warfare we see now is the so called “battle for hearts and minds”, the use of psychological tactics upon unsuspecting and uninformed populations to ensure an outcome that benefits those in power or who want to take power either within their own countries or from outside. In the giddy days of colonialism, these were called puppet governments or regimes, that looked and appeared to represent the best needs of the people but actually served an external power, which used to be the European colonial powers (England, France, Spain and Italy) and is now the global colonial powers of the USA, Russia, China and European Union. We have evolved away from the open field of combat and into the strange world of psychological warfare – and it is a very strange world indeed.

War is now fought with information and disinformation, with country leaders either being aware and able to defend themselves or being left to the disruption caused by millions of people whose view of the world and even their own country is fashioned through social portals that have never been independent, the Facebooks and Twitters of the world. These platforms were setup to further human communication on a global level and have been an incredible opportunity to study human behaviour and actions and the impact of information upon them; I get tired of hearing how many elections across the western world have been influenced in this way. It is a simple approach and is known to be very effective. People will act/vote on the basis of the information they receive, the more credible the information the more likely the action. If we are becoming aware of this now, I would guess it has been going on for some time.

So why are people unhappy? The simple answer is because the game that is being played with their freedoms is becoming ever clearer. The true context of what is going on is heavily censored across news, media and social platforms, whereas previously it was quite subtle and to a limited extent, the pandemic has brought the level of censorship to light and it is both broad and far reaching. The emergence of “fact checkers” and other cute names for groups whose role is simply to enforce the censorship through a mechanism that will look independent. The truth still ends up being censored and the influencing architecture becomes ever clearer.

If you still watch CNN or MSNBC or Fox News, be aware that you really can’t trust any of them. The same goes for the BBC and the press, everything from the New York Times to the Financial Times. People’s faith in these institutions is the last vestige of trust that enables tailored information to sway public opinion. Independent reporting has taken off dramatically since the pandemic began and there is a reason for this, populations can sense when they are being lied to, they may not know how or why but they see the mismatch between what is reported on and what is actually going on. In the UK, we had numerous marches in London against the lockdown and the pandemic restrictions – the media never reported on them as it might undermine the governments position.

Look for the new platforms that have not been controlled as yet (they eventually will be) everything from Odysee.com to Rumble.com, platforms with limited censorship and yes it shows in how many differing ideas and thoughts, from the conservative to the downright outrageous, are expressed and shared. That is what freedom of speech is, looks and sounds like. You will also find those views and truths the government does not want to you to hear, along with evidence of the actions taken to silence them. I can imagine we will reach the point where the people who listen to these opposing views will be classed as societies enemies, in much the same way the unvaccinated have. People should pay more attention to their history books and most religious books which tell the stories of such actions and behaviours, moral stories, that don’t have statistics or manipulatable data in them, probably with good reason!

People are unhappy with their governments, who lie and misrepresent and demonise them in their bid to silence those who dissent to their wishes. To what extent must our governments go to before we all stand together and accept our differences as critical to survival and not something that should ever be used to turn one person against another, or even one family member against another.

Our governments position should be to represent all the people, not to manipulate them to achieve their long term goals of accessing ever more wealth for themselves and the institutions that will support them when they are no longer in power. The level of corruption and sleaze is staggering, despite the highest levels of censorship and influence over the media in modern times.

Those protests will continue, people will go on standing up for their rights and those of their children and grandchildren. They stand for the rights and freedoms of everyone, whether you agree or disagree with their viewpoints. Remembrance day stands out like a banner, honouring those who fought, as those who protest do, clear in their conviction that whatever the risk, pandemic or otherwise, freedom and the rights of free people are as important now as they were then. When the government assault on our liberties is finally over, how will we remember them?
